Visigothic Castrum

Visigothic Castrum

A fortified nucleus of purely Visigothic architectural style, built for defensive purposes during the 7thcentury.

Situatedin what is now the Puig Rom residential area, at the summit of a strategic hill that overlooks the old urbannucleusof Rhode–Roses.

The finds made inside the complex include numerous potteryremains, bronze pieces, iron objects and, particularly, agricultural tools.

Nowadays, in spite of the solidity of the fortification, only the remains can be seen.
