Fortified coastal farmhouses

Fortified coastal farmhouses

The fortified farmhouseslocated inside the Cap de Creus Nature Park date from the 16thto 18thcenturiesand owe their design to the need for defence against the pirate raids that plagued the Western Mediterraneanin the context of the struggle between the Spanish and Ottoman empires for command of the sea.

Of a different style is the Coll farmhouse, an ancestral fortified house declared an asset of local interest and documented since the 12thcentury. Dedicated to vine growing, it offers the possibility of tasting its wines during the visit.
